Why business skills are handy for life in general

As the population of the world continues to rise competition for all aspects of life becomes more stiff and cutthroat. To be successful, you must one way or another rise above the intense competition. Education, knowledge, and looks however can only take you so far, but in the end it all comes down to how well you can sell

Going into an interview for any semi respectable to respectable job, competiton will be stiff. In the end it comes down to whoever would be best suited for the job gets it. But how would one define who is best suited. Well you cant, its essentially the proffesional opinion of the hiring manager that ultimately decides. This is where selling comes in. Wen applying for a job you are not simply stating your qualification but you are trying to convince an employer that they need you. You are essentially selling yourself as a package to them. This consists of everything from your personality, to giving off what type of person you are, to your qualifications. In the end the person who gets the ob is the one who gets the employers attention, knows how to discretely exagerate but most of all convinced the employer that they need them.

THis is one situation of how something other then a product might make you money and as an end result be more successful. However the same ability to sell is key in all aspects of a competitive life. This may range from getting a big contract for your business to indirectly convincing someone you deserve something like a raise.

finally sales skills has its more direct benefits too. As i mentioned before, competition is extremely stiff in this economy. This means that not everyone can become doctors and engineers. All the other manual labor or desk jobs are all that lefts and you can safely say that almost all of them including being a doctor or engineer wont give you enough money to be a millionaire and live like a movie star. The only thing that can possibly get you there with the exception of that .0001 percent chance of becoming a musician actor or sports star, is business. A business on the side is always beneficial and more specifically an internet based business. This gives you the ability to target many people around the world and will ultimately give you the best chance of making it big. but even if you don't, its still extremely hard to get ahead. A business on the side, however, is one of the best ways to do so

Finding topics to blog about for an informative blog

Now we move onto blogs that focus on a certain topic, niche or target a specific group of people. These blogs may be about cars, houses, a hobby or anything. These present a slightly more systematic and thought out approach to creating posts because of their refined nature.

Break it up

If your blog focuses on a specific topic you are very confined because there is only so much possible on that specific topic, however, there may be more then you think. Try starting off with a general post. If my blog is about car, i might start off with something general about car modifications. That covers one day and is a short brief post. In that post you may briefly talk about engine, brake, intake modification and so on . Now, for the next few days you can talk about each of those subtopics that was originally mentioned in your first post and explain why someone would want that and what effect it would have on the vehicle. After that each of those three posts can be again split up. For brakes you could now talk about disc brakes, drum brakes, and electromagnetic brakes, their pros and cons and why they are effective. The post for each of those subtopics would take up a day as well and would include pros and cons and its benefits and talk about it in detail. After that for all of the subtopics you could also do another post on the current brands available, which one people should get, how to install them and even show it step by step. As you can see this one general topic branches out to many other topics and on top of that, car modifications,  is only one topic within the large domain of cars, so the same could be done for buying a car, or maintenance on cars. This same method can be applied for any blog all it requires is a little initial planning and writing it all out before u start posting. Just remember to link all the topics to the subtopics and vice versa so that people can easily navigate from the generals to the specifics.

Keep it short

As you could imagine the method just discussed could give you alot of posts. However, they only work if you keep your posts short. Remember people don't like reading, this post here for example, is bordering on long. So to keep your posts short, do not go off on tangents. You may start to talk about a side topic if it is related but don talk about the related topic too much. Its best to mention the the related topic goes into more detail in another one of your articles and post the link to that article. In the case that you are trying to do the previous method described, be sure to keep the posts short and to the point. If you are writing about one of the general topcis and plan to make more specific posts and link to the general one, be sure to make sure the general ones stay general enough that it is worth the reader's while to jump to the specific one.

Get an idea from someone else

First collect all your ideas using the previous method discussed. After that, ask around to family for posts they think would be interested in that topic, then after that search some topics online that are related to what you blog about and see if you can find any inspiration for new things that you have not yet written about.

Now that you have  way to generate more ideas, you should consider blogging as often as your schedule allows. Check out why its important to blog daily.

If you don't have a blog that focuses on a specific topic and have a blog that focuses more on ideas you have or how your day went, it is a little easier to come up with post ideas. To see how, check out how to come up with posts for a journal blog

How to come up with ideas of what to blog about for a journal blog

Having a blog it is good to blog as often as possible, mostly every or every other day because ultimately the more you blog, the more viewers should get. The problem is when you are working your blog up and trying to make it big, you star to run out of good ideas that people will actually like.

Making Posts For  Journal Blogs

Well lets starts off with the easy way of finding an idea and this depends on the type of blog you have. If you have one of those, well call them journal blogs, it is fairly easy to find stuff. That type of blog focuses primarily on what you did today, something interesting you found out or learned, and idea you had, and epiphany that came to you about society. Those are fairly straight forward, just go about your daily routine and as long as you do anything semi productive you should be able to come up with something. The odd days where you don't, you can always talk about a story from the past as if it happened that day (a white lie) or maybe share some insight that you learned in the past through an experience or from a person. One thing to make sure of thought, is keep your posts not too long. As they start to get lengthy you may find that people are not reading them and you run out of material faster. If necessary split it up to a few posts and drop a link to fully tell a story and stretch it over 2 posts

If you have a blog with some specific topic, such as a certain hobby or niche, it gets harder and requires a more systematic approach.  To learn how to come up with ideas for blogs that target a niche or focus on a specific topics

Why you need Creativity in your blogging

As a amateur blogger trying to expand your client base, you must face the truth that you may not be the best writer out there, have the best research/proof and your not at the top of Google either. That means if someone is searching for a general topic that many websites cover, your will not readily appear. chances are your article isn't the best and its not the first one people see therefore it wont really get many views. Think of it as opening up a small burger joint beside a McDonald, it just wont work. Instead you have to sell something totally different. Instead of a burger joint beside a McDonald's you might open up a mortuary so you and McDonald were in no way competing. And even better they might be helping you hahah. Then you are not at competition with the McDonald's. This is where creativity comes in. If you wish to surpass the competition with the limited resources you have, plus the fact they have a head start, you need to think outside the box. When you cant beat people at the popular topics, blog about something interesting but not so popular and more niche. this however requires lots of creativity and brainstorming. The perfect idea that is a mix of creative, different and interesting does not merely just present itself you you. It really has to stand out too. You must think and plan out ideas to talk about. Ultimately the new and original ideas will  pay off because you have stopped trying for the same market as the big blogs and website, you will have found something productive, interesting and helpful and it is that, which will ultimately get you ahead

Why its important to blog daily

As a blogger, we always want more and more views and followers. To obtain that, blogging daily is one way you can make that happen but ill go in and explain just how bogging daily or every other day actually help you accomplish that.

Blogging daily or every other day helps you get natural views. Natural views are essentially views from nature. Haha just joking, they are actually views that continue to come and does not come from advertisements. These views come as a result of search engine optimization. One of the things search engines look at when ranking your website is how often and regularly a website is update. That means search engine optimization(click to hear more about SEO) will help you get more views.
they like it more if you post often and stick with it not one week on and one week off. In the end,

Another way it helps is because the more often you blog, the more things there are for people to look at and be interested by. This helps you retain customers and gain them. Natural posting every day will give you mor posts then posting once a week. as a result of this you have more posts out there to be found by people. On top of that when people go to your blog and gain an interest for it, they are more likely to return if something cool and knew comes out daily.

How to get more blog views for free

blog viewsAcquiring blog views can be slow and tedious. Luckily there are a few tactics and methods to raise blog views. However almost all methods require dedication and work

Come up with your own ideas
Before you go ahead and read what i say try coming up with 20 ways to advertising on your own. Do this before reading my advice because you may come up with a viable idea but after you read what i say, your creativity will be narrowed. If you have any ideas you wish to share post them in the comments

Social Networking
Social Media has massive potential to obtain views because of the sharing nature of all social media websites and the potential to access and promote to the massive friend lists of other users. Some social media sites that are effective are: linked in, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Click on any to get more information on them and how they can help promote your blog`

Search engine Optimization
Getting views from the ads you post are nice but they often disappear as the advertisements get old and are not re-posted. By using search engine optimization tactics on your blog however you will acquire more views from people who are searching and are interested in what you blog about. These views are natural because you do not continuously need to pay for advertisements or re post your advertisements. Check out SEO to get more details on how it can help your blog.

Advertise in Person
When people advertise a website the first thing they think of in most cases is advertising online. Doing real world/ offline advertising however, is still viable. One idea of something you can do is leaver flyers on telephone poles. You can also post flyers on public boards or areas where lots of people pass by like schools, workplaces etc. One last thing you can do is give some samples out of something affiliated with your blog. If i blog about woodworking i could make something small and simple giving it away to people with a card with these site name. Just be careful to use common sense and don't post anywhere illegal

Incentives
On social media sites or forums, encourage people to get as many friends as possible to join and offer a price to whoever gets the most people to join. You could also do something like once this blog has 100 shares i will upload a special instructional. Just be sure so be more specific then that example.

Chain mail
This last methods depends on both your morals and the age group you are targeting. If you are a bad enough person you might consider starting and email that informs people that if they read it they must click on the link, being your blog, and forward the message onto 5 others if they don't want to be cursed. This however will only work if you are targeting people under 12 years old.

Now that you know how to get views, you may need to know what to do with them. If so check out ways to monetize your blog or how to get accepted by adsense

What is search engine optimization and why is it important

What it is
Search engine optimization is a series of methods writers and website owners follow when making pages. It is a method that ultimately makes a website or blog appear higher up and more often when searched by search engines.

Well why is that so good
For obvious reasons it gives an advantage to the website owner because when people search for something they often don't go past the first page. If search engine optimization is used so effectively that a website gains a position on the first page of a search, that website will receive many more views. In general the higher up a website is in a search, the more viewers they will get.

Other then that , search engine optimization gives a website natural views. A natural view is a view that did not come from a link you posted on the internet or a return customer, it is simply someone who was searching for a certain thing and stumbled upon your website. Natural views are great because the natural viewer is most likely more interested then someone who may have clicked a link by impulse. A natural viewer most likely did not make an impulse click, would stay on the page longer and would potentially become a returning customer. On top of all that, a natural click is something that the website owner did not directly have to work for or pay for unlike a click that might come from an advertisement. Gaining natural click means there is always possibility of gaining more without any more work.

Now that you know why you need search engine optimization come check out how to use it.

Search Engine Optimization - Optimizing your blog for search engines

Advertising is often too expensive and risky for small businesses. With a low budget it is often difficult to get the views you need on your blog or website. Surprisingly you don't necessarily need to spend any money at all and once perfected you may even get more views through search engine optimization then you might have gotten through expensive advertising. If your not very well acquainted with what search engine optimization is and its importance then you should first check out search engine optimization and its importance.

How To Do It

Update Frequency
One of the main things search engines look for when ranking your website is how often it is updated. This is done because an old website that is not being updated often would suggest the information has become obsolete. So to show search engines like Google that your site is not obsolete, update as often as possible and regularity. That means don't do 7 updates in a week then stop for a month.  Keep the updates happening as often as possible and on a regular basis. In the cases of a blog this would be between every other day and once every three days. The longer you do this for the higher up your site will climb in the search engine rankings.

Wording
Wording of all parts of your posts and pages are key when optimizing your site to be found by search engines. This is because search engines look for relevance. Think of it this way. When you query "search engine optimization", things with "search engine optimization" in the name come up at the top. You don't however find things that say how to get more viewers near the top. Even though both posts may have the same content, the things that are worded the same way as what you searched have a tendency to come up more. So all this means that when writing content have the titles and first few lines of your articles or posting worded the same way a normal person would most likely search using general and not complex vocabulary. To help you with this, if you sign up for Google adsense, they can tell you how many people search for different things.

Ways to monetize your blog

how to monetize your blogFor bloggers when the word monetize is first heard we think of Adsense. Problem is, Adsense can be hard to get into but more importantly it is inferior to other forms of monetization in the profit it makes and the effect it has on dedicated viewers. Monetizing through Adsense is much easier then theses alternatives, but taking the more dedicated route does pay off. However, if after reading the alternatives you still want to take the Adsense way, check out how to get accepted by Adsense

Adsense Drives Customers away
Maybe its just me, but as a blogger it is difficult as ever to get views. I don't think i'm alone and i think everyone can agree that us blogger and other small website owners work hard for our views. if we work so hard and value our views so much then it would only be logical to try keeping them. Adsense does just the opposite of that, its gets rid of views. The main way you get paid by Adsense is by having people click on your ads. Once people click on the ads they are directed away from the page and that person may not come back. Each click on the ad is a potential viewer lost. Not only that but ads are annoying and an eyesore and can turn people away from coming back to your blog. Look at the most successful search engine for example, Google, its ad free.

Alternatives

So don't crowd your blog with ads, that's what we learned, well we still want to make some money right, luckily there are other ways. As discussed in detail in importance of blogging, by blogging often, with good content, we create a dedicated group of customers who develop trust in us and appreciate what we do. by giving them free, valuable information they gain a trust for us and an appreciation. By seeing that you create good trustworthy free content they will be more inclined to pay you for more because you have essentially proven yourself to them.

Book
At this point once you have a fan base who trusts you, you could go a variety of ways depending on your content. If your content is more word based and less on pictures and videos you could consider writing an eBook or book. You could grab from your blog a large portion of the content, improve on everything you grabbed from your blog, ad small things to it, along with revealing the best information. This you can talk about in your articles b saying something like,"and well talk about this more in my book when it comes out". You get the idea.
Kits
If your blog is based on crafts or building things kits would be easy to sell. Many people do not ave the small components to a project that are essential to completing it. finding them and selling them saves people allot of looking and guarantees their project will turn out like your

Homemade stuff
If your Blog is based on a trade or craft you could sell some of the things you showcase. An artist could sell birthday cards of their art, you could sell the jewelry you make or as i have many projects for kids on part of my blog i might sell elastic band guns made of wood

Selling products
someone on YouTube does this well. a YouTuber called the grand illusionist plays with many interesting toys and in every video he tells people where they can get them. I'm not sure if hes the one selling them but it would be easily profitable for him to direct them to his site where he buys the stuff and sells it for 30% more

Instructional.
When you show instructional and give people tricks or tips they are always wanting more. Once they have tried or used a few they developed your trust and see the usefulness. all that's next is to come up with a better one and tell them they can learn the full thing by paying

lessons
Again requiring fans you could also host a web seminar, or a non web seminar, or online lessons. Once people return over and over to your blog you are seen as a professional in their eyes and who better to learn from then the best

How to get your Blog Accepted by Adsense

how to get your blog accepted by adsenseImagine waking up in the morning, logging onto your blog and looking at all the money you made while you slept. This is what most bloggers see when they think of Adsense. Problem is, it can be so difficult to get approved. On one hand Adsense is a great way to monetize your blog due to the fact that its so low maintenance once you have already been approved, however getting there is a hassle. The acceptance of a blog into into Adsense is not determined by a person, it is decided by several  rigorous algorithms that analyse your blog. This makes it difficult because you need to know what the algorithms look for if you want to be accepted. So here are some tips on the things Adsense looks at. (Mind you Adsense is convenient but may not behg the best, as talked about in how to monetize your blog.)

But before you go on, if you don't have a blog already check out how your blog can benefit your business. This will tell you exactly how a blog can expand your business.

Blog age
Adsense looks for experienced blogs that are not new. This is because over time the not so serious and non dedicated get weeded out. Though many people online get accepted before, 6 months tends to be a good blog age that will give a decent chance of approval

Blog views
If your getting lots of views then your probably doing something right. Its as simple as that. A decent amount of views tells Adsense that there is money to be made from your blog, and that you probably have some good content. A good amount of views to have its above 70 natural views daily (meaning you get these views regularly without spamming your blog name out). If you are need more views check out articles on how Linked-in, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook can get you more views and check out why social network in general is effective for getting views

If you are looking to get more views also check out how to get blog views for freesearch engine optimization

Spamming
Adsense can tell what time you get your views, from where and how often. So if you have ever posted in communities on Google all at once you would have noticed a spike, going from few views in that day to many instantaneously. Google will be able to tell this and will see it as spam because the spike in views was clearly as a result of you posting and it is assumed that all the clicks were impulses of people who wont stay on your site for long and aren't necessarily interested in the site and its content. Because Google needs to protect the paying customers, view spikes are a major flag for them.

Dedication
Post on a regular basis and often. This will increase your rank for search engine optimization which will in turn give you more natural views and will also show adsense that your serious. Daily, every other day, or once every three days is good
\
Content
Have good original content. The algorithm cannot actually read and comprehend what you have, however it can check for spelling. If there are many errors it would suggest to the program that you are either unkprofessional or posting gibberish. Your content must be original and yours. The algorithms can test this by comparing your content to other websites to see if you pulled it from somewhere else. Adsense can also judge your content by the time people stay on your page for so make sure its good. Links must also be active.  For more detail about this check out why it important to have creative posts.

Pages
To show that you are professional have a contact us page and an about page. The adsense program judging you will search for these. If they are not there that might be the difference between acceptance and being declines. From other sources i have also heard that you should have an adsense privacy policy page however i'm skeptical about that but whats the harm in having it

Domain
Adsense prefers you have your own domain name and  not the things4boys.blogger.com type domain. So if your serious consider linking it to your own domain without the blogspot.com. This again shows seriousness and commitment.

Paragraphs and layout

Make sure all your articles are a decent length like maybe 200 words or more. Also make sure to not have too much or too little sidebar space. You don't want to make it look like your blog is built just for adsense, but you also want them to know there will be room to post their ads. To know just how much space check out other blogs approved by adsense

how to use twitter for business and marketing

As a business finding a product that works can help establish a good base to build off of. However, once you have an amazing product or service it can be difficult to get a hold of enough eyes and ears to who trust you and will listen. A problem with traditional advertising is everything is too good to be true, so people do not trust it. people feel more comfortable buying from someone they know or buying after a recommendation from someone they know. This is where twitter helps business owners.

Like many other forms of social media, a good ad can go  long way in the sense that it can be passed around, shared and go from person to person. That's all fine and dandy, but any advertising should do that. The area where twitter makes a name for itself is in the way that it helps the seller gain trust. Like i said people feel more comfortable buying from someone they trust. With twitter along with time and dedication it is easy to gain the trust of people by regularly posting interesting and helpful tips or know how in the field of the product you are selling. Once people see the information that you post, if its any good  they will like it and will consider trustworthy and knowledgeable. Then when you come out with a product people will trust it and buy it since they already trust you more then the competitors. It is important however to not only post advice in the field of what you are selling. One because you will run out too quickly but mainly, you also want to be relateable. By that i mean make yourself seem friendly, funny and likable, and try only posting the tips or free stuff twice a week and the products once a month.

Now chances are that you wont have enough followers to make you you fortune, they will just boost business a bit. Luckily, not everyone needs to be your follower. Like i said before, people trust recommendations from friends, that means once you broadcast to your followers, if they like the product they will recommend to friends too. And what is an easier way to show something to your friends showing them over social media. Twitter is great for that because when people share they share too all of their followers. So when you get word out to your followers, the ones that like you and trust you may also put it out to their followers and that recommendation from a friend is what people trust. Just be sure to have a link or a picture because people prefer clicking to go a page instead of typing

expanding business with linked in.

Linked in is a relatively new social networking site, well not necessarily new, however, not too many people know about it. The best way to describe it for those who have never heard of it is like a more professional version of Facebook, that people use to create business connections.

The whole idea behind linked in is to be linked in. Another way to put this is that Linked in is a way to have connections. On linked in users post a professional picture of themselves, skills, resume and good qualities that might make them seem desirable to have as a business partner or employee. You may now be starting to notice that linked in doesn't follow the trend of other social networking sites and that is true. A business owner can use other sites such as Facebook, twitter, blogger, pinterest, etc to get more customers (and i show you how if you click on it). Linked in on the other hand, is used to instead obtain business partners, or employees. The key to why linked in is special is because it is a place where instead of expanding your business with customers, you can expand your business with professional employees, get advice from specialists and talk to others to see how they might benefit your company.

The way to do this is by making connections or essentially befriending people that either have good connections or are good to be connected to themselves. However to do this you must have something to bring to the table as well if you wish to be be accepted. You can make yourself more desirable by posting links to websites you are affiliated with, posting major accomplishments, and even your resume. Doing that as well as other professionals doing the same, linked in become a good way to network with people who are professionals in particular, fields, niches, or markets. Finding others in similar fields gives you a resource base of people to get help from and puts you on the market if someone ever needs a job done.

why social networking is so effective

Social media is quickly expanding and has become the new way of advertising. Logically it has not happened by coincidence and there is a good reason why social networking comes out on top of the others as a superior form of advertising

One reason is because it is based online. Modern consumers tend to spend more and more time online, so it would only be logical that things online would get more views. Not only that, but being online there is a much more vast market of people who may see thing. However, that is not the main appeal. The most prevalent reason why social networking prevails over all other forms of advertising is because of the sharing potential. The ability to share things is easy and readily available. All it takes for something to be displayed to all of a person's contacts is often the press of one button that says share. On the other end of the sharing, the receiver can receive this easily, the shared information pops up in front of them and they can see more by the click of a mouse. It is this accessibility the internet gives us that makes social networking prevail over non internet advertising.

The accessibility of social networking is not the only advantage. Social networking also prevails as a mode of advertising because people are social beings. Social networking, hence the name, is a way humans can interact with others and get that human interaction fix. As people have the urge to network with each other, they pass information because information is all there is to pass. If that information is passed from one person to 5 others and all those 5 people share it with 4 others and those 4 share it with 3 others, we now have 60 people at the end who receive word of that information that was only repeated 3 times. But thats just the 60 people that it ends at, take into account the 20 who relayed the info and the 5 prior to them and we now have a total of 85 people who actually heard this information with it only being repeated 3 times. This information being passed on could take the for of gossip, trends or a product one is trying to sell. The only requirement is an interesting piece of information and a medium of relay

But what next, what could you possibly do now that you know how great social networking is???
Well you could try it out, but if you are going to try it out, you should do effectively. So, i recommend you check out a few other posts on different forms of social networking, their pros and cons, and how to utilize them best.

International Business- Pros/Cons

International business is the trade of good's and services between two or more countries and several regions.

A few pros for international business are flexibility for products. This means that if products that you have don't sell enough or you don't make enough profit from the product, through the international trading system your products can actually be really useful to other countries where they don't have those goods/services. You also have less competition, most of the markets rise up because there isn't too much competition whereas in a local business markets there is lot's of competition. Throughout international business you can also gain knowledge and new skills about other markets and trading systems around the world. By gaining new knowledge about other business markets throughout the world, you can improve your own market and have it rise above other markets, making more profit and sales. If a country does not have a product that your country has, your market would automatically expand. For example some countries do not have lumber and that is one of Canada's major exports. Throughout international business you create many new jobs for locals and business owners. A few cons of international business is that your may be dependent on other countries for products. Over half of the world countries relies on food sources from each other, we get green beans from Kenya, Avocados from Mexico, etc. This requires money to be put into extra costs such as transportation via airplane, train, boat, etc. You can also have a loss of cultural identity, an example being McDonald's. It is an American fast food restaurant which is now placed all around the world in tons of countries. Some countries do not want their cultural identity lost and would not want to have McDonald's in their country. They would not want to adapt a new culture or modern living. Throughout the international market business you also have a higher risk of financial problems, meaning  it takes up a lot of time to collect all of the payments for domestic sales and what not.

Expanding your Business Through Social Media with Pinterest - Yea its that easy

Pinterest is a somewhat new and unique sharing site that could be classified as social networking. The generic social networking sites have a tendency to focus on the users sharing information and pictures of themselves. The unique part about Pinterest is rather then sharing information about themselves, users share pictures of what they like (making it easy to target a specific niche). This focus more directed on people's interests is what makes Pinterest such a good tool for web based businesses and blogs.

How it works
For those unacquainted with Pinterest, users browse through pictures with short descriptions and repin (repost) or share pictures that interest them. If the picture is from a website, clicking on it will direct the viewer to that site.

Yes its that easy to get views on Pinterest
Pinterest  differs from many other social networking sites because you don't necessarily need to gain a following for an image to be seen by many. With Facebook and blogs, you tend to only get views when you have put structure into your account and gained friends. And with blogs you only get views once you've posted religiously fro months. With Pinterest, everyone who posts an image has that image displayed in its category and people who search for it can also easily come across it. This means all you need to do is take a good picture off your business's site, and add a description telling them whats cool about it and mentioning if they click they will find out more on your website(be specific). This combined with the fact that  the main focus of the site is sharing pictures means that its easy to gt your pictures re shared by many and viewed by hundreds

Easy to Target Niches

Because pictures are posted and categorized by their description, the built in algorithms of Pinterest push the pictures you posted to people searching for the same type of pictures you post. This means the viewers showing up on your site will have that interest

With all these factors increasing your success rate, you can easily increase your blog or website traffic by utilizing the power of Pinterest.

Benefits of Having Your business on facebook

You may have already heard it before, but let me tell you again. when advertising your business, Facebook is the way to go and a must have.

The Power of Facebook
Let me give you an example. Say you own a car dealership. A customer may visit the dealership and mention on Facebook how good your service was or how much they love their new car. Now the average Facebook user has around 200 friends and say 5 of these friends might be interested in a car and inquire to that friend about the car and where they got it. One of those friends may go through to buy a car from you, mention it on Facebook and the cycle has begun again (people are even quicker to check out and re post a link). This is just a glimpse into the power of Facebook. It is a mass networking site where the amount of viewers grow exponentially at every person that sees it. However, this scenario is not you using Facebook, this is merely some neutral party who doesn't care about the outcome of your business that has just promoted it. Now imagine that same scenario, but instead it is you, the business owner posting the well thought out advertisement that comes out in a way that doesn't seem like advertisement at all. This brings us to how you must advertise, and you must be careful about this because if done incorrectly people will take you ideas as spam.

Why it is so Powerful
The scenario just mentioned, touched on possibilities of what might happen posting on Facebook but not what makes it great. One advantge of Facebook for a business owner is how easy it is to acquire friends. On Facebook people always want more friends and someone looking for clients has a decent chance of being accepted by people they don't even know. Once a group of friends is acquired you can use the power of posting. When you post, it appears on the news feeds of all your friends. Friends may choose to like it or share it with their friends. Either way it is an effective way of showing everyone, everything you post. Once that is perfected you may also choose to make a page all about your business. You can then post links to this page, have people join the group and have all the information about what you are selling within this page.

What to Post
When posting, you must post informative things about the product you are selling. This must be done in a fashion that seems more like helpful or interesting advice rather then you trying to sell them something. And then occasionally you can mention a sale or something that is great and that they must check out. The benefit of posting free, helpful information to your friends is it develops a sense of friendship between you and the reader. From your helpfulness they get the idea that you are a nice person and are not just out to take their money (even though you are). Seeing you deliver quality interesting information, they will also trust your products and believe they are quality too. The importance of creating a sense of friendship is talked about more in depth in "benefits of blogging".

Ways to get people to buy once on your kijiji ad

Ways to make people  buy once they are on the ad

Previously we  discussed getting views to your ad and getting ideas on things to sell. Once you have those 2 down packed, you now need to change those views into money. The methods discussed here are primarily for Kijiji ads, however, the theories can be used in other aspects of advertising too. Here are a few ways to do just that

More pictures
Once they are on the page it is important to have more pictures. In these picture you MUST show the viewer everything good. This includes different views of the product, all the colors and models available, and the packaging it will come in (if it is good packaging).

Point Form
People like reading things that are not in paragraph; that's probably why reading this blog is killing you. To capture the average page skimmer's short attention span they must see all the features and main information in point form. Using capitals and colors are often a good way to attract the reader to the most important or good aspects.

Make a comparison
Beware that your viewer may not know the retail price of what your selling. Add the market value of your product in as a fact you tell the reader. Preferably what a large retail store would sell it at. This gives them the illusion that they are getting a great deal.

Create a sense of urgency
People tend to procrastinate if they believe the product will be there or a long time and eventually will forget. Telling them that the products are only available for a few more days or saying your low on inventory will stop the people from procrastination and make them move quicker to shower you in their money

Offer a return if they are not happy
A question that may be going through people's head is: what if i don't like it? Telling them they can return it for their money back will give them a sense of comfort and assurance that nothing will go wrong. It is important to tell them that they can return it as long as they bring the original packaging and do it within a month (or another large period of time). This is doing the opposite of creating a sense of urgency. If the buyer feels it is not urgent to return it, they will not rush and eventually forget. Use gift cards as an example. I got many for Christmas... 4 years ago. And i still have them today. It remains in the back of my mind that i can go use it anytime and therefore i procrastinate. By telling them the packaging must be there, it will eliminate many of the refunders because people will procrastinate, if they do remember to return it within the month they will most likely not have the packaging or the urge to bring it back to you.

Post a video
On my ads where i intend to sell multiple of the same items, i find it is worth it to post a link to video in the ad. It is important that YOU make the video yourself and notify them of that so they will know that they are seeing the exact product they will be getting. In the video show them the product and its good features and if possible compare it to another product that is inferior to it. This will help be that extra motivator that assures people of the legitimacy and quality of the product you are selling . Countless times people have messaged me about the product and then stopped. If i wanted to try getting the sale back i needed to entice them somehow and spark the conversation back up. To do that i would simply ask them if they had watched the video and if not give them a link to it. That way if they were on the edge about buying and  forgot, i would show them that 2 minute video to re-entice them. And an example of a video i have one of a product i was selling right here

This concludes my tips for upping your sales on Kijiji and craigslist. If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to share them.

Importance of Blogging for a Business

In this day and age, standard forms of advertising wont suffice. The new age is the age of social media and if not utilized correctly your business is missing out. Blogging is both a cheap and effective form of social advertising. With blogging you can communicate to a large group of people, gain a big following and create a sense of friendship (as talked about in importance of social networking).

Gives you trust

Blogging has more advantages then most other forms of social networking. Blogs are meant to deliver information to people, they are a place where people can read about a certain topics of interest. This is the main benefit. If you create a blog and push out good content, people will return and develop trust in you. It is the same idea behind some commercials. If you see the same commercial many times or the same company. That company or product now becomes familiar to you and after seeing it many times, you start to see it as a trustworthy brand. With blogging, you are giving the viewers free information on a regular basis and unlike a commercial you are not constantly trying to sell them something, you are simply helping people out with the information you bring them. Once a following is gained, you can the choose to advertise one product or service and as people have already seen that you deliver trustworthy information, they will also trust your product.

Blogs get Google on your side

More importantly though, blogs give you viewers. If you don't believe me, the proof is in Google. One of the largest deciding factors of whether you will get views or not is if you have properly utilized search engine optimization. A key factor Google looks for when ranking your site for appearing on search results is the amount of times and consistency it is updated. because blogs are easily updateable and can cover vast amounts of topics (like mine), you can update them often and be better optimized to appear in search engine results. But once you get these views what should you do with them. Check out how to monetize you blog to find out

Blogging with all its helpfulness is only one form of social networking. Check out how other forms of social networking can help you get more view- Why Facebook is effective for businesses

Blogging also goes hand in hand and works well in combination with Pinterest. Check out expanding your business using Pinterest to find out why

So, if you don't have a blog already, get one. in the near future ill be coming up with a post on search engine optimization and how to make a blog. but for now, feel free to subscribe, comment and check out more articles

Importance of Social Media for a Business

As a small business, conventional forms of advertising can often be expensive. Not only have they started becoming expensive, but people are now paying less and less attention to the old school advertising methods(ads in newspaper). People now want things like information for free and can get products for cheaper. This is where social networking makes a difference.

An old school business tactic used when trying to close a sale is using the person's name. When a sales person uses costumer's name, it is them trying to create a sense of comrodery, which will hopeful sway you to buy. This is the same thing that social networking does. The idea behind using social networking is to make yourself seem like a real genuine person not a distant company. This can be done by posting often, offering people help in things related to your field, posting some advice about choosing or buying something in your field,
but also posting parts of your personal life to give people the idea that they know you. Eventually a following will develop, people will network to their friends and spread word bout your business due to the fact that they like you and feel like a friend. For an example of this in your life just think back. Over the years you may have had a friend or been to a store where the owner was very kind. This comrodery most likely resulted in you going back to that place or person and referring people there because you liked them.

Different types of social networking pose different advantages and should be execute in certain ways. Some of the most common and effective forms of social networking are blogging, Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In and Pinterest. Click on any to learn more.

An important deciding factor when selling an item

Importance
In this short article i am going to discuss one component of a sales pitch that many small business owners leave out when trying to sell electronics online. This one tool can be implemented when selling on wholesale sites, Kijiji, craigslist, eBay, Amazon and more. The deciding factor that tends to change the mind of a buyer and convinces them to buy electronics is a video. Putting this into perspective think of your local future shop or best buy. At these stores that sell electronics, they always have the product they are selling out for people to try and experience. When selling a product online, primarily electronics, it is essential that the buyer still has this experience with the product. The way they obtain this experience is through a video. In the online electronics industry a video is a must have.
here is an example video for selling speakers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpiKDF-TA9k
Other industries such as clothing and jewelry don't matter as much because the product can simply be judged by a picture and description, however, in the electronics industry and even the industry anything that needs to perform (engine or vehicle), a video is necessary to demonstrate the performance. The reason behind this is that a picture is not enough to show performance. A computer or phone needs to be fast, a picture cant show this; speakers must sound good and monitors and screens must display a crisp image. In all these cases the only way for the buyer to experience this is to watch it in a video.

What to include
In the video I find a few things should be included. The main thing the video should be based around is a comparison. When comparing, compare everything that makes your product look good, this may include aesthetics, sound, image, quality etc. Compare the product to inferior products and list their shortcomings and how yours is superior, just keeping mind you should leave out the things that make your product look bad. At the end of the video you should also include a quick tutorial on how to use certain elements of the product that people tend to have problems with. If the device is something complex like a phone,  add a link to another video that is yours or someone else's. Keep in mind people may not even click your video if it is long so try keeping the video between 1 and 3 minutes.

However, what good knowing how to get sales if you don't know what to sell. If you need some ideas, check ideas for selling on kijiji
