Employee evaluations are a import part of every business and company. As the goal of almost every business is to genrate income, employee evaluations are key to accomplishing. The goal of employee evaluations is to raise efficiency and this is done through judging employees' strengths and capabilities, helping employees grow and develop, and providing both positive and constructive feedback
Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, That is a fact of life. it is important for businesses to constantly asses these strengths and weaknesses of their employees to ensure that employees are in the position that suits them best. In many cases as well, people don't have the ambition, drive or the time to apply to another position that may better suit their strengths. Because of this it is important that companies be proactive and constantly asses the strengths of their employees so that if need be, they can have their job altered. This in turn will increase efficiency, quality of the work and employee.
another way to increase the efficiency through employee evaluations is to provide direction to employees. In many cases if an employee has not been doing a job for a long period of time they will be doing certain aspects of the job not as efficiently as possible. An employee evaluation can help workers be more efficient by possibly pointing out different or better ways to go about their tasks.
communication as well poses a major barrier in companies and it is said that 95 percent of problems can be avoided by proper communication. Employee evaluations are the perfect way for employers to communicate their needs and thoughts to employees . this may help redirect employees on a path that is more direct, it is similar to when one tells a long story. After some time and focusing on some small details. the story telling may digress and forget the point of the story. an employee evaluation is the perfect way to put employees who have wandered off back on track,
To keep an profitable, efficient company up and running one of the biggest things employers can do to help the business is to have employee evaluations. they increase the efficiency of the company and workers by providing direction to employees, enabling employees to perform their best and providing them constructive feedback

Thoughts on David Suzuki's comments about Canadian immigration
When people compare the United
States of America to Canada . One of the main differences
in our cultures that is almost always pointed out is that America is seen as a melting pot of cultures
where as Canada
is seen as a diverse mosaic of rich cultures.
In David Suziki’s recent comments, he mentions that Canada should
not accept so many immigrants because it will drain the country of its
resources. But contrary to Suzuki’s belief, this country was built upon
immigration and that continues to be one of the best things we have to offer,
our rich mix of cultures. Not only do we
pride ourselves on being accepting of different cultures but we also greatly
benefit from immigration economically. Most of all Canadian born people had the
luck of being born into a comfortable first world country. Many other on the
other hand, did not have the luck of the draw and instead were born into a
third world country. It is up to us as Canadian citizens to let others in
because we could have very we not had the luck of being born into a first world
country
It is often said that you become who you hang around with.
That is why it is always good to get new ambitious immigrants in the country,
both to help the economy grow, but to also inspire other Canadians to be more
ambitious.

How video has transformed the web and its future
When I look at how video has transformed the web, there are
four key things that come to mind for me. The most apparent is the availability
of information. Users regardless of where they are located in the world have
access to thousands of videos.
The explosion of video growth on Youtube has created a level playing field for all
economic groups. Regardless of people's financial
status or where they are located in the
world. A desire can quickly be converted to instant knowledge. Students can
learn anything from Astro physics to baking a cake. The choices are endless. It's
a well known fact that children that come from a more privileged background are
usually at an advantage. Often children that live in third world countries, or
children that live in rural communities in Canada can find themselves at a
disadvantage. Things taught in more suburban schools or more affluent areas such as, biology, or computer programming may
not have been available to all. With Youtube if there is a motivation then
their is a means to obtain that knowledge.
Next is cost savings, this area is especially usefully to
students like myself, who have a very limited budgets. The cost of text books,
and education have sky rocketed, but it is a necessity for all students if one
wishes want to succeed in today's society. At the same time, at no time in
history has obtaining information been so accessible. And nothing has come
close to saving consumers as much money as videos. One of the most cost saving
devices that was ever discovered is Youtube. People no longer need to pay
thousands of dollars a year for tutors or mechanics, all you need to do is pull
up a video. Previously if a student didn't understand a certain math concept at
school, they would have to leaf through books
or the internet, to get the answer. Today's students are encouraged to go to
Khan academy which offers a wide variety
of classes. Khan academy and videos have been the building blocks for changing the face of learning. Unlike paying for a
tutor videos bring free tutors to you.
Saving money has always been important, but equally
important is the way the information is presented. Information has always been
available in text format . All
individuals had to do was scan though text to get to it. With videos, learning is a user friendly. It has been most
often said a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is thousand of moving pictures, its seamless and
it user friendly. It is a tool that works for everyone regardless of your age 2
or 100. If you want to learn something
there is no learning curve for the user. All individuals have to do is engage
their sense of sight and hearing, which is a natural process. In a text
tutorial their can be and the user may be unsure if they mean this bolt or that
bolt. Then their is the option of having have illustrations or images. However its imposable to take a picture for every
movement. Video shows every movement and
every second of every step and best of all you have the option of rewinding it
to make sure what you have done is correct.
This final point is often overlooked. Videos are one of the
most cost effective advertising vehicles out there. Youtube accesses millions of
people world wide at no cost. Need to find drummer for your group? Go on Youtube. Looking for someone that makes
hand woven blankets, Youtube gives you
choices of blankets from the natives of Africa to natives of Canada . Do you
have a talent for creating exceptional hairstyles and want to attract more
clients? There is no better place than Youtube. Lets not forget the success
that Models and actors have been having by show casing there talent. One such
actor was Canada 's very own Justin Beiber who
was discovered after he posted a video on Youtube.
In light of the speed with which technologies advances, in
the future I see videos becoming more customized to suit individual needs. User
will be able to interact with video. For
example if they are watching a cooking tutorial on utube, and they don't have eggs,
they will have a a smart system can can quickly find alternatives. Live streaming
will become more common. People will have the opportunity to become more
engaged with other users watching the same video. The user will have their own screen divided so
they can have multiple conversations and videos. For example instead of using Skype
an individual in Canada can go on Youtube
and join a exercise class taking place in the U.S. In one section of the screen they can see the
teacher teaching the class, the teacher can in turn see them. In another window
they have the option to open another window to see their friend riding, or see a stranger that has accepted an
invitation to connect via video link to them. Essentially, i see video as a
medium of information transfer that has just started and wont be going away any
time soon. it will grow an will continue to grow and become more advanced and
interactive in the future.
a company that has taken advantage of the growth and benefits of video is oneinchpunchpro. Check out their website to see more about what they do http://oneinchpunchpro.com

Some ideas of what happened to the missing malaysian plane
As authorities continue to search for the missing plane and guess at what happened to it i have a few ideas of my own.
Hijacking is a highly probable cause of the disappearance. This would account for the change in direction and turning off of radar. A mere hijacking, however, does not explain why no terrorist groups have claimed it to be their doing. This may be though, that the terrorist group does not require people to know. The average terrorist attack is for revenge or to get attention and none of that would happen if people don't know who it was. A possible reason for this is that the terrorist group does not want people to know. Well in what case would this take place though? Well this might be the case if the terrorist group did not need to kill or scare but simply needed a plane for some purposed. This might be to transport a bomb, turn the plane into a bomb etc. This would be logical for the terrorists to do because in many of their countries they wouldn't have everything needed to make a plan. Another fact that supports this is there are many small islands in the nearby area where a plane could land and be put under a structure.
Another possible outcome of the flight might be that it was military related. According to families of the passengers the Malaysian officials continuously gave them contradictory information. On top of that the officials let search parties look for 4 days in one area and then told them the plane had turned around and was spotted in another area. This behavior is extremely suspicious and suggests they might have been hiding something. If the military accidentally shot the plane down due to some miscommunication, high military tensions, or if they were hiding something, they would want to hide that. This would also explain why it took 4 days to inform search parties they were looking in the wrong place. As the plane was on its flight path they switched trajectory, this may have been because of a small issue that would cause them to leave their path and land somewhere else. As they went back on an angle, the Malaysian military might've been doing some secret project or maybe was just suspicious of them and shot the plane down. After shooting them down they would've had 4 days to clean everything up and destroy the evidence and once that was complete and things were discussed, they would have then told search parties they had seen the plane somewhere else.

Is it possible to eliminate starvation?
7 billion people, that is the approximate population on the earth and it is rising as we speak. 33% of these people are malnourished or suffering of starvation. Now say every country in the world, or better yet the world as a whole were to adopt some sort of socialist approach to governing our everyday life and society (which is highly unlikely because people would stop trying),
the money would be spread our evenly and i'm fairly sure everyone would have a decent amount of money in their pockets since currently more or less all the countries in the
world have a small percent of the populous with more money then the rest of the entire country combined. So there would be easily enough money to go around, but then the question comes up is would that money do anything. If we think about it, money is just paper or metal, depending on whether it is bills or change. Money actually has very little use, other then currency. If everyone was to go out in this socialist governing system and went to the grocery stores of their respective countries and bought all the food needed to support their families, my question is would there be enough food available to support all these people.

If everyone was to go out in this socialist governing system and went to the grocery stores of their respective countries and bought all the food needed to support their families, my question is would there be enough food available to support all these people.
Frankly i'm not going to approach this using all statistics because that would take years to get all the statistics on the food produced by each country and the potential farming land available etc. instead we will approach question using the philosophical approach; logic.
My view is, the world cannot and will not every be able to eliminate poverty. Not to be a pessimist ,but if you factor the sheer amount of people we have and the amount of people that we would have by the time we established some system it seems unlikely we would be able to provide for everyone. Also if it was possible then why isn't it already done.
As I said before we have 7 billion humans on earth and growing, potentially reaching an estimated 14 billion before the end of the century. Now the population of the earth is going to double and we cant even feed everyone right now and i doubt the size of the earth is going to double just to help us feed the doubled population. You see the thing is, its not even like we have small appetites, we need a lot of food to sustain our large brains along with he rest of our body and unfortunately we are large consumers and eat more then any other animal species on this planet. Have you ever heard that statistic that if all the insects died, everything would die in 50 years, but if the humans died nature would flourish in 50 years. We are the cause of mother natures problems and that is with a large percentile of us still not being fed, now imagine how drained mother nature would be if she could possibly feed all the people we had on earth. Also take into consideration that a large amount of the people we have comes from 3rd world countries they are poor and there is little education. Families have children that they cannot provide for in hopes that one of their many children will survive. They would not only have the same have lots of babies mentality, but would also have enough food to feed all their kin. They would continue to use no birth control and, their bodies would be healthier with the food, which would resulting in more successful births and more births due to greater stability. This would be taken advantage of (not with bad intentions) but if we somehow could feed everyone, having enough food wouldn't last long with the sapping of mother nature along with the increase in population.
Now ask yourself this, if it was possible to provide for everyone on earth then why hasn't it been done before. One you would need some socialism governing system for all countries and that wouldn't happen, second, countries better for producing food would have to give to countries food with countries with less optimal growing soil. and third after doing all that they would find that the soil would be leached of its nutrients quickly. But say i'm wrong, then why hasn't it been done before. humans are selfish creatures at times, but we also have a strong sense of community and feel sympathy for people less fortunate. We are very caring and empathetic and its not like anyone enjoys poverty so my idea is that its impossible to provide for everyone or else it would have been done already. Because of the compassionate nature of humans, we would have come together before and done it or started trying doing if it was possible. The reason why most people don't do anything about it anymore is because most believe that it is impossible and there is nothing we can do about poverty. Now of course that is untrue i believe we should help the less fortunate only thing is, i doubt we will be able to feed everyone (doesn't mean you cant try though).

We own the gouvernement
Too often we find ourselves looking up to our political leaders and in goo reason we do so because they have the ever so important job of running our countries, but why do we let them get away with everything they want to get away with. I have a question, do you control your boss, does your boss listen to your commands. The answer for both of those should be no and similarly we tend to forget that we elect our prime ministers and presidents and we pay with our tax money for them to run our countries. In that case, we, the populous are the bosses of these individuals we give so much power to. Now i'm not suggesting overthrowing the government or anything like that i'm just suggesting we stand up for ourselves a bit instead of letting these leaders go free and do what they want. Obama for example as many of you may know just shut down the government and and the Canadian parliament is currently more or less taking a break to. Just remember though that we pay these people to run our countries and we are the boss of them, so reminding you that occasionally (not necessarily now) we need to put our foot down and make sure they are doing their job, after all that is what bosses do isn't it?

The End of New Technologies
Ever since the beginning of intelligent humanity we have been making technological advancements whether it be stone tools or the microprocessor. It has seemed that all we needed to advance technology was a spark in the mind and some innovation. But is that but enough anymore, is technology now becoming limited by the laws of physics that physics that control every aspect of our lives and are we starting to plateau in the production of new technology?
The technology and advancements in knowledge seem to be slowing down, but then again the coming and going of technology has been an element throughout all of history, that we saw between medieval times and the Renaissance, the technological boom in the late 1800 and early 1900s, and the advancements of technologies of war during he two world wars and the cold war. Advancements in knowledge and technology seem to be what we strive for, a constant goal of humanity whether it be for the glory, the money, or just the lust to acquire knowledge. But is it now possible that our technologies are reaching the limit. Falling from the sky, you continue to accelerate due to the force of gravity, the longer you fall for, the faster you go, but at once point you will reach terminal velocity and you will stop gaining speed and you will be stuck at terminal velocity. In terms of technology though, are we going to be upon that terminal velocity in our lifetimes?Inventing something in the late 1800s and early 1900s was as simple as making a coil uninsulated wire, putting a current through it, and a piece of toast on top and calling it a toaster. Unfortunately for us, today it is much harder think of an invention, like a wheelchair that climbs stairs, but oh wait, its already been invented its called the ibot 400. This is now the case for almost all ideas you have, its already out there. And if it isn't like a perpetual motion machine, its may be because it denies the laws of physics.
Is there a point where we can no longer advance things, where we start to be limited not by our knowledge or innovation but by the physics and chemical limitations by the materials we use. An electric motor is around 80% efficient. We lose that 80% in mostly resistance in the wires, friction, and the small space between the electromagnets and the permanent magnets. Well the space we cant reduce or the spinning parts would be touching, which would cause obvious problems, we already have the strongest magnets possible, neodymium magnets taken from the earth, we've reduced friction with oil, ball bearings, and even magnetic bearings. And for wire friction well you could save that by using gold, silver or platinum wire which are the only things with lower resistance then copper. The efficiency of electric motors has basically reached its apex, likewise all aspects of technology will eventually reach there apexes too, where they are limited by the raw materials they are made of and no longer will be able to be bettered by knowledge and innovation. It is without question that that day will eventually come for every aspect of technology. What is unknown is when that day will come.

Stop The Wind Turbines???
I live in Canada and have a cottage on lake Erie and recently there has been a project to put up windmills near the lake, on the opposite side of the road as the cottages (the side further from the lake). Now the thing is, many people have a problem with this new development and many people want to stop the windmills despite the fact that they are doing something of good for the environment. The windmills are mostly placed in farmers fields, one per field. This works well because they need to be spaced a wide distance apart and might as well build it on land that can be utilized for other things at the same time, that way they are not wasting precious land. Now the reason why most people have problems with this is because one it decreases property value, it can also be seen as an eye sore, they also emit a low frequency that apparently irritates approximately 25% of the population, and also drive away mammals and rodents. But on the flip side, they are decreasing pollution by replacing potential unclean sources of power generation, and the farmers do get paid good money, something like $4000-$8000 to host the wind turbine but that is only for the first 10 years. SO the question is whether you think the turbines are great or not. Take into account the farmers or people nearby have no say in whether that turbine goes up or not. Like i drive by a decent amount of properties with a big stop the turbines sign, but unfortunately for them they have a big majestic one in their field. Looks like they were to late hahaha. Also take into account that after 10 years they stop getting paid. They also have negative effects on property value and cause small noise pollution and insomnia that i said before affect 25% of the people but at the same time its a renewable, safe energy, so what can i say.But to be fair, im not sure what I will be thinking once they have expanded more and they are across the road from me. So what do you think, are the windmills worth their negative repercussions as long as they are getting power to the city who, so badly needs it. Leave your comments and what you think should be done.

Why oil isnt running out but still need to lose our dependency on it
A
nightmare to some, yet a dream come true to others. But crude oil may not
be running out just as fast as we think. There are a few reasons for this reasoning one of these being the new technologies that enable
us to continuously reach oil that was previously unobtainable, and the vast quantities of fuel we have left may make the
thought of running out of fuel a thing of the past.
Most
people don’t understand the sheer immensity of the oil we have available to us.
Most of the population has been somewhat brainwashed into thinking that oil is
running out. Now this is mostly because oil is non-renewable, unclean, and the
production, transportation and use of oil can be harmful to the environment. For
those reasons most articles try convincing people that oil is running out so we
should lose our dependency on it. In actuality, it is not running out, which
gives us even more of a reason to lose that same dependency.
From
1870 to 2009 scientist have estimated that we have used approximately 135
billion barrels of oil. At the rate we are using oil it some sources say we will
run out of all our current oil by approximately 2060. What most don’t know is
that when that number 2060 is thrown around, that is assuming that we continue
to deplete all the current wells we have in use, but that does not factor in the
finding of wells that happen so often. In actuality we have more oil than
most people think The Alberta oil sands alone have an estimated 1.84 trillion
barrels of oil in them that is yet to be extracted. Only 9% of this oil is
currently extractable with our current technology. Eventually though technology
will evolve until we can extract that oil. Once that oil is extractable, compare
that 1.84 trillion barrels to the 135 billion barrels we have used from
1870-2009, that means that the oil sands contain an estimated 13.6 times the amount
of oil we have used between 1870 and 2009. And it is only a matter of time before
the technology evolves enough for us to extract all of it. And that is the oil
sands by itself. Add that to the deep water reserves in Brazil with an estimated
150 million barrels in them, and Linc energy who plan to extract 233 million
barrels from shale rock in Australia. Those are just a few oil reservoirs
listed and there are plenty more being discovered in relatively unexplored places
like Antarctica and Artic with estimated amount of barrels going into the
trillions. When sources say that we will run out by 2060 that is assuming we do
not try and extract oil from these areas where oil is unobtainable, and
continue to only use the current wells we have dug.
I
just mentioned that some of the oil such as the Alberta oil sands was
unobtainable at the moment due to its location and difficulty to extract. But new
oil will be continuously found and extracted as long as new technologies are
created to help oil companies do so. We will quickly find that with all the
new technologies and ways of extracting this difficult to reach oil, the so called unobtainable oil in the oil sands will eventually give birth
to the trillions of barrels it contains. Currently oil more than 8 miles
underground is more or less off limits due to the fact each pipe must be
minutely smaller than the pipe previously laid. This is because the way that
the pipes reach the oil deep underground is that the biggest pipe is at the top
and to reach the bottom they need to continuously push smaller pipes through
the original pipe. The problem encountered past 8 miles is that the original
pipe must an enormous width to pump a sufficient amount of oil to the surface. Shell claims to
now have pipes that expand once pushed through the top pipe; this will enable
them to push pipes deeper than ever without having to keep making their pipes larger and larger. New drills are now able to drill vertically as always but if they miss the oil they are now able to drill up to 200 miles horizontally allowing them to
practically never miss an oil well.
But
just because these options are there doesn't mean they are safe for the environment.
What
people need to understand about oil is if there is a demand for it, there will
always be new ways to go deeper and extract the unextractable no matter how
much it damages then ecosystem around it and we will never run out of oil
because there will always be new wells and easier ways to get the oil out. Currently
oil prices are continuously rising despite the fact that we still have plenty
of oil available and it is baffling that they are rising if there is
unlimited oil as many sources have claimed. Well one of the reasons is because it
is getting harder to reach. But eventually the new technologies to reach deeper
oil will become cheaper as it becomes less “new” so the price will stop being affected
by that. The main reason for the continuously rising oil price is: why not raise the price? All the oil
companies are privately owned and prices are only regulated to a certain
degree. despite there being some laws stopping oil companies from inflating
the price to the extreme, they are still able to raise the price over
time. And as long as people need to put gas in their cars the oil companies
will have them under control and will continuously be able to raise prices
because people have no choice.
If
there is anything you remember from this article I hope you realize that there
will not be a day when the oil will dry up. As long as there is a demand for
oil and a spark of innovation in the mind; the oil companies will continue to find
new oil despite the ecological costs. The price of oil is not an indication of whether
we are running out or not, but it is an indication of how desperate we are for
oil. It is up to us to lessen our dependency on oil for the sake of the environment,
despite the fact that it will always be available.

Why Electric Cars Will NEVER Succeed
We need new vehicles, that aren't gas powered; almost everyone agrees with
that that. But will electric cars be that savior that everyone has been
waiting for? The answer is well, probably not. Why is that you ask, well the
electric car is inconvenient in too many ways, and no matter how high the price
of gas, people will always love to hear the revving of their engine burning
away their money.
Of course electric cars have their advantages like their cheap cost to refill but that’s about it. Oh and of course you also get that feeling of satisfaction that you’re helping the environment, but there’s not much more than that. If you ask most people why they don’t get an electric car, the first thing they’ll tell you is its too inconvenient. The reason why most people first think of this is because say I need to take a 5 hour car trip to see my cousins for the holidays, or to visit an old friend on an occasion. Well I’m inconvenienced by the fact that my dam electric car can go over 200km. But even if I need to go to my cottage that’s 160 km away. Well my electric car may be able to go that far but what if its winter, what if I drive aggressively or what if it’s more uphill then down. What I’m trying to say is that even if my car can theoretically make the trip some things may influence whether I can drive that full distance or not and even if do make the distance, it’s not worth the hairsplitting stress, contemplating whether I will make that trip. There is definitely something to say about that peace of mind that gas cars give you, knowing that if your running low, you can stop and refill at any given time
The other thing about electric cars is that they are way too expensive. Well
Mr Smarty pants might come by and say, "Hey electric cars are only like
$10,000 more than the average car." Well guess what. YOUR WRONG. Yea sure
the factory price might only be 10 000 more but think about this. I'm buying a
new car because my gas one stopped working. Well I do mostly city driving so
ill invest that extra 10, 000 on a new electric car. Problem is, I also
drive long distances to see family, go to the cottage, go camping and go on
vacation. So that means I need to buy another gas car, and to be fair I will
buy a new one just like I bought a new electric car. Well now I’m in a bit over my
ankles. And now to add onto that, I've had my car for 10 years and now need to
pay 10 000 dollars for a new dam battery. And if I decide to sell my car after
5 years, I’m sure the resale value will SUCK too since everyone is afraid that
you may not have treated the battery right and have neglected to give it full
slow charges, thus decreasing the battery life.
I'm not sure about you other guys, but is it just me or don't we love having a nice powerful engine with a manual transmission and a sawed of muffler to make our straight 4 sound like a v8. Yea, yea I know I’m taking it overboard and not many people do that but either way a gas engine is a nice manly thing to have and we occasionally like to put the pedal to the metal when accelerating after making a new corner and listening to that small yet decent sounding engine. Electric cars on the other hand don't make any sound at all like how terrible id that, that when you try accelerating all you hear is the meshing of your gears. Like to make electric cars appealing they at least got to sell some loudspeakers hooked up to a computer system that plays the sound of an internal combustion engine as you accelerate so at least its seems to the non vigilant listener that you actually HAVE AN ENGINE in your car.
Anyways I don't HATE electric cars and i don't think gas is the way to go, all I’m saying is that electric cars have a long way to go before they conquer the market and chances are some aliens will come down and give us a car that runs on urine before electric cars taking over the market become a reality :-p

And if I decide to sell my car after
5 years, I’m sure the resale value will SUCK too since everyone is afraid that
you may not have treated the battery right and have neglected to give it full
slow charges, thus decreasing the battery life.I'm not sure about you other guys, but is it just me or don't we love having a nice powerful engine with a manual transmission and a sawed of muffler to make our straight 4 sound like a v8.

Is nuclear energy a viable alternative energy.
A neutron speeding at incredible speeds, colliding with an atom of uranium 235, splitting the nucleus in half, which releases energy and causing 2 more neutrons to break free and collide with more atoms of uranium 235
thus causing a chain reaction and creating a process called nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is the reaction that takes place in the detonation of an atomic bomb and in nuclear power plants, but whether it is viable or not is what we will be examining
when contemplating nuclear energy one must factor in the dangers and risks of utilizing nuclear energy. In 1986, a power plant in Ukraine, in the city of Chernobyl had a meltdown casing catastrophic damages and immediately killing 123 people. but that's just the beginning, due to the radioactive isotopes that escaped during the accident, over 985,000 people were killed up to 2004 by cancer, according to http://www.globalresearch.ca. But how and why does such an accident happen. well in modern day north america, we need not worry as much about this problem. The meltdown at Chernobyl was cause by many human errors and mechanical failures that could have been avoided if proper precautions were followed. A nuclear power plant work by metal bars being heated by the energy produced from the nuclear fission, then using the heat induced into the metal bars to evaporate water which spins a turbine and generate electricity.
The reactor at Chernobyl did not have people monitoring it properly and they were also running the reactor on high and not using enough metal bars to absorb the heat. this extreme heat and lack of dissipation caused parts to start melting, causing the reaction to go out of control and be unconstrained, which burned a hole in protective barriers, allowing the radioactive isotopes to leak out. This accident has led people to believe that nuclear power is no longer safe but many people fail to recognize that standards have been raised and precautionary measures have been put in place to avoid this same type of accident and it is extremely unlikely that we will have another Chernobyl incident.
Despite this, people are still very skeptical about nuclear power. do the benefits outweighs the risks. well to start nuclear energy is extremely clean and produces extremely large amounts of power. The average nuclear power plant produces 12.2 billion kilowatt hours (http://www.eia.gov). To put this in perspective, this would equal 60 000 acres of windmills or 2400-2800 windmills, when the wind is blowing. one nuclear plant would also equal about 4 coal plants. If we consider the amount of pollution, a nuclear plant saves us, it is worth it to take the 0.1% (http://www.ippnw-students.org/chernobyl/meltdown.pdf) chance of a meltdown of a specific nuclear reactor in its complete lifetime, compared to the imminent and clearly visible pollution emitted by a coal plant that cause things such as 22 300 premature deaths every year http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/jun/12/european-coal-pollution-premature-deaths. It is best to choose a solution that will definitely work but has a minimal chance of being dangerous instead of going with the old ways that are already proven dangerous and have a 100% chance of staying the same

Benefits of having a science and technology base
Times are quickly changing with all the new forms of technology quickly developing. People who are able to adapt to these changes and use them are at an advantage over others. Now lets face it, everyone wants to succeed in life and also wants their children to succeed in life, but with these changes that continue to come, it is important to have a basis in the quickly growing fields of science and technology if you want you or your kids to have a better chance to succeed in life.
It is imperative that kids in the school system or entering the education system have this base in science and technology. These fields exercise the area of the brain that deal with logical thinking and reasoning. Skills like these are huge benefits to kids in school and their superior logic and reasoning skills will help them with things such as learning new subjects, doing word problems and will also help them in courses such as math and physics which require logical thinking.
The future and the fastest growing jobs are in the engineering and technology sectors, so these skills taught to young kids can prove to be extremely beneficial to them if they decide to take up the fastest growing jobs on the market.
Introducing kids to these fields can be as simple as spending time with them and introducing them to some experiments and small fun and free projects that incorporate technology and science. These projects will be fun and educational for kids and will give them better logic skills which will in turn give them a better chance at succeeding in our schools
