One reason is because it is based online. Modern consumers tend to spend more and more time online, so it would only be logical that things online would get more views. Not only that, but being online there is a much more vast market of people who may see thing. However, that is not the main appeal. The most prevalent reason why social networking prevails over all other forms of advertising is because of the sharing potential. The ability to share things is easy and readily available. All it takes for something to be displayed to all of a person's contacts is often the press of one button that says share. On the other end of the sharing, the receiver can receive this easily, the shared information pops up in front of them and they can see more by the click of a mouse. It is this accessibility the internet gives us that makes social networking prevail over non internet advertising.
The accessibility of social networking is not the only advantage. Social networking also prevails as a mode of advertising because people are social beings. Social networking, hence the name, is a way humans can interact with others and get that human interaction fix. As people have the urge to network with each other, they pass information because information is all there is to pass. If that information is passed from one person to 5 others and all those 5 people share it with 4 others and those 4 share it with 3 others, we now have 60 people at the end who receive word of that information that was only repeated 3 times. But thats just the 60 people that it ends at, take into account the 20 who relayed the info and the 5 prior to them and we now have a total of 85 people who actually heard this information with it only being repeated 3 times. This information being passed on could take the for of gossip, trends or a product one is trying to sell. The only requirement is an interesting piece of information and a medium of relay
Well you could try it out, but if you are going to try it out, you should do effectively. So, i recommend you check out a few other posts on different forms of social networking, their pros and cons, and how to utilize them best.
