How to Make an Operation Game

Materials

-Styrofoam (1 inch - 1/2 inch thickness) length and width of a sheet of paper-Paper with a picture (you can draw one or print one up)
-Aluminum foil
-An Led or Buzzer
-Tweezers
-An alligator clip or wire
-2 largish elastic bands
-A 9v battery  or 2 AA/AAA batteries with a case with wires

Instructions

1. Get a sheet of paper and print/ draw a large image on it (be sure the limbs are wide)
2.Cut out a piece of Styrofoam the same size as the paper
3.Glue the paper and Styrofoam together (If the glue is too hot it will melt the
Styrofoam so apply glue to the paper first)

operation game
4. Draw a circle where you will be making the holes, no less then 1.5 cm in diameter
5. cut the holes out with an exacto knife
6. cut strips of aluminum foil a little thicker then the Styrofoam (1cm)
7.wrap the strips into a cylinder and put them in the holes, gluing the tin foil with small dabs so it doesn't fall out
8. BE SURE to let the aluminum foil stick out of the bottom. As this step is EXTREMELY important to the functionality of the game you may wish to watch my video, 3:20 minutes in

9. Now cut out a piece of aluminum foil the size of the board and cut another piece of Styrofoam or hard cardboard the same size.
10. Sandwich the tin foil in between the two pieces

 11. Secure it all together with an elastic band on both sides

Steps 12-15 may be challenging if you don't have a basic knowledge of circuit . watching my video at 7:25 minutes in
 12. Place an end of the LED in the tin foil on the top, the other end in the Styrofoam to hold it steady
13. Attach one end of wire extending from the battery to the end of the LED that IS NOT touching the aluminum foil
14. LEDs only work one way in relation to the battery, there is a flat part on the led, the lead nearest it is the negative side and shoud be attached to the negative terminal of the battery
15. Attach the other end of the battery to the alligator clip
16. Attach the free end of the alligator clip to the meal tweezers

 17. The tweezers and the tin foil complete the circuit and act as a switch , when they touch, the light should go on.
18. Put pieces of anything non metal in the wholes and attempt to take them out without touching the tin foil sides and having the light turn on.
19. To make it more challenging out more round pieces in the wholes and larger ones will be more difficult to pick up too.

Troubleshooting

-If the light does not turn on when the tweezers touch the metal, try turning the LED around because it only works one way
-Test the LED to see if its working by putting electricity directly to the LED
-Push the top of the game board down moderately hard and try touching the tweezers to the tin foil while keeping pressure on it, this will test to see if you have a bad connection between the tin foil in the holes and the tin foil underneath
-Also try putting your finger in the holes and forcing the tin foil downward becuase it is important it touches the tin foil underneath
