How to reduce fuel consumption - A not so conventional approach

The price of fuel is rising, worst part is, it wont get any better. Luckily, as the prices go up we find more innovative and unconventional ways to reduce our consumption of fuel.

Slipstream vehicles
A large portion of the resistance and friction a moving car must overcome is a result of air resistance. This air resistance causes the engine to work harder to overcome this resistance so that it can maintain that desired speed. To reduce that air resistance consider slip streaming vehicles. By staying close behind vehicles they do all the work of parting the air in their path and you move in the path of this parted air thus reducing the resistance. A few pointers for doing this are: one,  have a cup of coffee to increase your reflexes. And two, follow behind transport trucks when possible. Due to their large size they cannot brake as quickly and they part more air. Less deceleration ability reduced the chance that you will end up running right up their butt.


Drive with the wind at your back
This goes along with the last technique we talked about. Again to reduce the air resistance you should drive with the wind at your back. To do this most effectively only depart on trips when the wind is blowing in  the same direction you wish to travel. This may mean postponing work and waiting days to visit relatives.

Always drive downhill
This method tends to work best and once perfected you may even make money off your trips. Going downhill and avoiding uphills always saves you gas due to the force of gravity helping you out. The way you can go about this is by buying a house at a high point in the city near a dealership. Starting your voyage at the dealership by the top of the hill, purchase a nice beat up car. Proceed down the hill, avoid braking arrive at your workplace in the city below. Go to work and while your sitting at your desk wasting your time as normal post an ad on kijiji or craigslist to resell your car (see how to increase your kijiji ads). Once you leave work complete the sale of the car, have the person test drive it and drive to your house. Get dropped off there, complete the sale, and if your good you might even make a bit of money. This way you never have to refill your car. In the case that you do not get a person to buy the car that day, bus home and buy a new car the next day then you have 2 cars to sell. If your smart about it you can sell it for more and make some extra money on your commute.



Take shortcuts
An interesting story. back in the day when i attended elementary school the bus wouldn't pick people up who lived within 2 km of the school. The drive to my school was 3 km, however, i was still under 2 km away therefore i could not ride the bus and had to bike. The idea behind this story is that we are not meant to take the roads. We are expected to drive off road, the most direct route. By reducing the distance your engine will run for less time and will.


These methods may seem dangerous and inconvenient and ill give you the dangerous part ,however, as for inconvenience it is up to you and how much you want to save fuel and the environment with it. But for real, don't kill yourself following these guidelines religiously. I would feel a little bad.just a little.
