When selling a product, finding something that will sell is only half the battle. The other half is getting views on those ads and turning those eyes into money. The techniques i will be discussing are for getting views and making money from them in a way that will not cost you money. the tactics are specific to craigslist or Kijiji ,however, the idea behind it and the business tactics can be used in other aspects of business too. Previously, I discussed some ideas of what to sell on Kijiji or craigslist if you wish to make money; if you haven't checked it out you can do so here.

Ways to get people to your ad

Re-post

The rule of thumb that all Kijiji/craigslist sellers must know and do if they want to succeed is to re post daily. The two websites work by putting the newest listings at the very top, therefore to maximize your viewers re-post as often as possible. When posting on weekdays it is important to post at around 11:00 am to catch the lunchtime crowd and the early lunch breakers who are browsing the web. The more important time though is to post when people get home from work at 4 or 5. By posting at these 2 times of the day you will maximize the amount of people that see your ads. For re-posting on the weekend there is no exact time that works best, however, re-post as often as possible because when people are out of work on Saturday and Sunday they are bound to search the internet. To make all this easier for yourself have all the writing saved in a document so you can make it once and just copy and paste afterwards.

Use Keywords

The next most important thing is to utilize keywords to optimize your views. Keywords are basically things that are searched a lot. For example, if i was to sell speakers i would name the ad something like: wireless Bluetooth speakers, works with apple, Ipod, Macbook, smartphone, Samsung etc. As you can see, in that ad we encompassed the Bluetooth and wireless aspects which people may be searching for. Along with this people are also searching for accessories for these same devices. By doing this you are getting hits from people who are looking for your product along with the poor souls who didn't even know they needed it.

Multiple effective ads

Also you need to post multiple ads. Yes i know both the website tell you not to, however, no one gets ahead by playing exactly by the rules. In this case we are going to half play by the rules ;)  .  Kijiji tells us not to post identical ads, so to follow that rule and not get our ads rejected we need to post similar ads with enough differences that Kijiji doesn't detect them. Taking the speakers as an example again, I would post them in electronics, iPod/MP3 accessories and headphones. This would enable you to again get hits from many people who weren't even looking for what your selling along with the people who are. And to incorporate the last step into this, we would change up the keywords in all the ads. One ad saying wireless Bluetooth speakers, works with Apple, Ipod, Macbook, smartphone, Samsung. And another saying Wireless Bluetooth portable speakers-works with all laptops and cell phones. Along with changing up the title you must also change up the descriptions too.

Pricing tactics

Having lower prices attracts more customers. That being said you can't necessarily just lower your prices just so you can have more customers. So how can we lower our prices without lying to the customer and raising it when they get on the page? Well, if you are selling multiple items say 10 dollars each. You can put the prices as 7 dollars. Then when they enter the page you say if you buy 5 or more the price is 7 per unit, but if you buy them individually it will cost 10 per unit. That way you can sell for the price you want, get more viewers with a lower displayed price, and at the same time, encourage people to buy many units.

Good picture
A captivating, clean and professional looking picture will always be one of the deciding factors to get people to go to your ad. Therefore you must find a proper picture; search other websites that at sell the same thing like eBay. Make sure the front picture has everything good about the product in it; a good view of the item and the professional new packaging beside it often sells. If you cannot find a picture online do not be afraid to take one yourself. White backgrounds tend to look nice and clean.
