Engine of the future

Hey folks, I came across this video about a month ago and it just hit me now that this would be great to share with you guys. This is a Youtube video and its about a technology that may be incorporated into new internal combustion engines. It is really genius what they did and can save you gas. As you may know, internal combustion engines have intake an exhaust valves in each cylinder linked mechanically to the camshaft. The innovation these guys came up with is; instead of having the valves controlled mechanically, they are now all controlled by a computer. This allows more precise timing and allows the car to modify more things to make it more efficient such as the exact moment when the valves should be opened to perform best.  As a result of this the engine has no need for a camshaft and all the bulky mechanical parts that attach the camshaft to the valves can be eliminated causing the engine to be 30% lighter. This engine also has 30% more power then it originally had with the mechanical valves and it is also 30% more efficient. With the electronic valves that can be controlled 100% by the computer, the engine will also have the ability to act as a compressor, which can compress air while slowing down the car, then later releasing it back into the engine when accelerating, causing the engine to act as an air engine while accelerating, ultimately conserving more fuel. This would result in much less energy lost while decelerating and accelerating the vehicle. If you want to see an air engine in action you can watch this video on my blog of a steam/ air engine (bottom of the page). http://things4boys.blogspot.ca/search/label/stuff%20to%20build
also feel free to checkout the original video of the engine of the future, in case you somehow haven't noticed yet, the link is in under the picture.
